Most apps tell you how to get there, tell you what to see, tell you what to do. But this isnt your usual travel guide.

This ones a wee bit different. While weve laced it with favourite places, at heart its an Insider/Outsider view of New Zealand, seen through the prism of its leading city, Auckland.

Insider/Outsider? Because weve lived roughly 15 years in NZ, yet werent born there, we see things through both familiar eyes and fresh eyes. For instance, we understand the significance of the clothesline to Kiwi women better than most Kiwis. Weve watched the shift from tea culture to coffee culture and seen the changes it has wrought. Ditto, beer to wine. Ditto, monoculture to dual culture to multi-culture.

We also want to keep you safe and healthy while youre in New Zealand — remember, were parents and grandparents — so weve provided all manner of safety tips from traffic rules to emergency phone numbers.

And since we write for the reader, weve provided our candid opinions of the good, the bad and the mustnt be missed. (Also, occasionally, the MUST be missed.)
